About the Photographer
My home is in Richmond, Rhode Island and I have been an astrophotographer for about 6 years. I have developed a passion for this kind of photography because of its mixture of astronomy, nature and photography, all of which I appreciate and love. To be able to capture such grand imagery while telling a story through my eyes and at the same time archive and preserve is absolutely thrilling. Astrophotography is a specialized form of photography and can be very difficult because of the nature of the subjects being imaged. It is low-light photography at the extreme. I also enjoy nature and outdoor photography in general. My specialty is 35mm slide photography using camera-on-tripod techniques but I also do piggyback, prime focus and eyepiece projection photography through my astronomical telescope. I have imaged with several cameras, but now photograph with a 35mm Olympus OM-1 and only Zuiko lenses.
In April of 2003, five (5%) of each of my photo sales will be donated, by the artist, to the International Dark Sky Association (IDA); a non-profit organization which educates and makes change to preserve our night sky.

Several of my photos have been published: My 'trophy' and 'best selling' image, The Great Leonid Storm of 2001 (Great Fireball in Orion)", over 200 images sold and published in Sky & Telescope Magazine, June 2003, Astronomy Magazine, November 2002 and in SkyNews Magazine (Canada) in May/June 2003. This photo was one of 12 winning photos out of 500 entries selected by Sky News Editors in their first annual astrophotography contest.
"Jupiter, Saturn and Mars Conjunction", published in Astronomy Magazine in January 2001.
Upcoming in September of 2004, a calendar called "OnlyInRI" will be published by Moon Mountain Publishing of North Kingstown, RI. This calendar will feature only native artists' work from the State of Rhode Island that is currently on display and being sold at the Newport, RI store "Only in Rhode Island" located on the Long Wharf Mall. The calendar will be sold statewide and will feature one artist's work for each calendar month. My photo image "Kingston Church" with the planet Venus, available in my gallery, will be featured in one of the months. This image beautifully captures a historical church that has been around since 1625 and in on the nation register of historical sites. It is called the Kingston Congregational Church. I captured this stunning image during a twilight evening in April of 2004 with the brilliant "evening star", our sister planet Venus, to the upper right next to the steeple. Not only does this photo capture "New England" but it also captures the theme of science and religion, history and astronomy.
