Universal Press Credentials issued by American International News Service
are backed up and supported by the editorial staff at IFPO and American
Image Press. Here's what you can achieve in long-time member Roscoe Farmer's
own words:

"I was already covering events for local news papers and magazines.
However, I felt that I could cover more events if I belonged to an independent
agency. That's when I found an IFPO magazine in the AA photo department.
After reading it I decided to become a member.
Little did I know that joining IFPO and American International News Service
(AINS) would be my crowning introduction on the west coast (and later) the
Media world.
After joining IFPO and enrolling in the American Image News Service (AINS)
PRESS PROGRAM my media connection has been unlimited."

"I was drawing and painting when I learned to hold a pencil being
an Army brat, we moved around a lot. After high school I moved to New York
City in the 60's where I worked odd jobs until I landed a sales position
for Novatech Corp. manufactures of Motion Picture, Television, Photographic,
and Theatrical Lighting Equipment. I enjoyed my job which was fun and never
boring. I moved up the ladder fast as top salesman, and was promoted to
senior sales manager and technical director of Corp. was contract consultant
along with Mobilcolor Inc., for construction of The Tower of Light, DuPont's
and several other Pavilions at the Flushing World Fair, in Flushing Queens
in 1964. I travel around in and out of the USA, sketching and painting people,
places, and things. It was in 1974 that I moved to San Francisco, CA. to
pursue a degree in fine art art. I started at city college and transferred
to [at that time] Academy of Art college, now the AA University.
In 1976 I was accepted for four year program because of my drawings and
paintings, art major with a film minor. Needing professional slide photos
of my art work to send to galleries for exhibitions, I was told to go to
the AA photo department and choose a senior student who was about to graduate
and exchange services or for a small fee have what I needed done.
After unsuccessful negotiations I ask the administration to transfer
me to the photography department and change my major to Photography with
an art minor. Little did I know that I would enjoy it so much that I spent
six years, photographing everything from insects to architecture. I was
awarded two AA grants for a total of seven years at the AAU. I graduated
class of 81, with a BFA degree in Photography (emphasis fashion), minor
Fine Art (realism).
I was already covering events for local news papers and magazines. However,
I felt that I could cover more events if I belonged to an independent agency.
That's when I found an IFPO magazine in the AA photo department. After reading
it I decided to become a member.
Little did I know that joining IFPO and American International
News Service (AINS) would be my crowning introduction on the west coast
(and later) Media world.
After joining IFPO and enrolling in the American Image News Service (AINS)
PRESS PROGRAM my media connection has been unlimited. My specialty is models,
actors and entertainers. Being an AINS Press Correspondent allows me to
venture into most aspects of photographyyou name it - most likely I have
covered it. I was known in the bay area by Major National and international
department stores as fashion press. My events of coverage were food, plants,
animals, insects, medical, sports, entertainment, book reviews, cultural
holiday festivals, fashions, to famous people.
From 1979 to present I have photographed events such as, SF 49Er's, A.C.T.,
and Black Filmmakers hall of fame Oakland, SF Black & White Ball, Ebony
Magazine' Fashion Road Shows, American Airlines, Consulate General of Nigeria,
I. Mignin's & Co., Macy's, Nieman Marcus, Joseph Magnin, Big Beautiful
Women's Fashion show, Selix Formal Wear, Emporium Capwell, Marathon Realty,
SF CA International Flower Show, Coors Brewing CO., and Guest Photographer
for Academy of Art Fashion Design Department and The Louise Salinger's School
of Fashion Design, SF. CA.
I have photographed world designers such as Adolph Shuman, Oscar De La
Renta, Giorgio Armani, Lilly Ann, Isaac Mizrahi, Jessica McClintock, Yves
Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Wilks Bashford, Ebony magazine fashion road
show. Famous people: My photo instructor-Jim Dennis of NYC, Macy's executive
catalogue photographer, Richard Avedon, Lena Horne, Sophia Loren, Eartha
kitt, Lloyd Bridges, Alex Hailey, George Seagle, Paul Winfield, Angela Davis,
Dick Gregory, Danny Glover, Giorgio Armani, just to name a few.
I have produced and directed Fashion Shows for Department and local Boutique
Stores, featuring Local and international Designers. Taught Photography
for eight years at San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, (advance
techniques, fashion and portrait). IFPO-AINS Credentials opened many a door
which I attribute much of my success to. By using and applying prayer, AINS
ethical code of practice and a lot of patients I was able to achieve my
passion and hearts desires in the world of photography.
My hats off to Ms. Vonda Blackburn, Editor and Chief, and her wonderful
staff at American Image Press and IFPO for great service and maintaining
a high ethical standard for all its members now and for all its future members."
Sincerely,
Roscoe Farmer Jr., (member since 1988)
